I spent a lot of time in school covering what it’s like to start your own business: the pros, the cons, the challenges. I’m thankful I have such good partners in Aaron and Ryan. We know each other so well; working together has been almost too easy. We each seem to have different strengths and weaknesses. We know what each of us enjoys doing, what we’re good at and the things we aren’t as good at.

This great dynamic between us has actually made it kind of fun for us to go through the challenges we’ve encountered in launching Help 52. No matter what gets in our way, we always know who the best guy among us is to handle it, and we seem to just knock out one obstacle after the other. I’ve come to enjoy facing the hurdles that come up.

A few months ago I shared with Aaron the Latin phrase “Ad augusta per angusta.” It means, “To high places by narrow roads.” I knew Aaron would like it. It has sort of become our unofficial motto for Help 52. I believe it captures the spirit of each of us founders. I hope it will inspire you as well.

I’d like to say thank you to everyone who has supported our organization; helped put us on our narrow road. I look forward to bringing you news of our continued journey.

Best Wishes,

Executive Vice President - Finance
D. Standing on a hill with my wife-to-be dreaming up ideas to help a cousin that seemed a million miles away. I would have given anything to take his pain and misfortune away. It came to me suddenly, "What if there was a website with a million users that gave a dollar every week?" for sure then we could make a difference just a little, be that bright joy that comes to people when fortune has truly smiled upon them.

Well, here we are, over a year later, Brandon is no longer with us, and I never had that chance to tell him how much of an affect he had on me, his cousin, just never as close as I liked to imagine we could be someday. Now I have a team behind me, united by Help 52, ready to make a difference and to be the difference for people between going broke and losing to the "machine" because fortune hasn't smiled on them yet.

Derek, Ryan, me and anybody else that understands and sees the need for a change are here, we may be the face right now of Help 52 but we know that there are millions more out there that long to make even just a small difference in peoples lives. A dollar a week can do that, it may not seem like much, but united it can bring hope, joy and a families smiles back.

We don't promise to heal loved ones, we can't even begin to explain how we wish we could, but we know the power of family and the need for family to come together to help that loved one with their fight, to hold their hands, to shed tears and to laugh with joy at the small things.

If you are inspired by any of this, long to make a difference, understand the gift of family and want to see families unite in tragedy and disease than join Help 52. Go to www.help52.com for more information and to learn about ways you can help. Even if you'd like to just keep updated and send us your stories and give support. We are just starting out and need everything we can get. We are still developing our system, but we have a goal and a dream and the drive to get there. Join the help.
